NORTH AMERICA
The USA is home to several of the world's most exciting
cities, some truly mind-blowing landscapes, a strong sense
of regionalism, more history than the country gives itself
credit for and, arguably, some of the most approachable
natives in the world.
Those expecting Canada to be a blander version of the
USA should think again. Canada's wild northern frontier,
which has etched itself into the national psyche, and its
distinct patchwork of peoples have created a country that
is decidedly different from its brash neighbour.
Canada
Canada
enjoys a multi-cultural history that began more than
20,000 years ago with the arrival of the Inuit native
Peoples. European explorers followed in the 15 th century
in search of a new route to the Orient, but found in
stead a land of hope and promise, where visions of silks
and spices were replaced with a passion for fur. By the
1700's the fur trade was booming and competition for
Canada's natural sources began in earnest between the
French and English. Today, the face of Canada reflects
both its old-world roots and new-age dynamism.
With its multi-cultural East incorporating Ottawa, Montreal,
Toronto and The Niagara Falls to the Majestic West which
is often referred to as Canada's 'Garden of Eden' with
its stunning beauty and relaxed lifestyle, Canada's scenic
diversity will keep you returning again and again.

United States of America
'Give
me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning
to breathe free, ' reads the inscription on the Statue
of Liberty. And the world did, fuelling the dynamism of
America with waves of ambitious immigrants from every downtrodden
corner of the globe. Immigration is one of the defining
characteristics of America's national identity, though
calling the US a 'nation of immigrants' neatly sidesteps
Native Americans (already here) and African-American slaves
(brought against their will).
From the Pilgrims who landed at Plymouth Rock to the patriots
who chose to 'live free or die'; to the nation's multi-ethnic
cultural heritage of the mid-Atlantic and Old South; to
the awe-inspiring west where the diverse landscape of the
western wilderness were voiced in the giant sequoias of
California, the sandstone castles of the Grand Canyon,
the grandeur of the Rockies, and the clockwork geysers
of Yellowstone; and finally the last frontier Alaska
with an abundance of scenic splendours; with no two cities
the same America has something for everyone.
